Harriers were bred to hunt hare, hence the name Harrier. Harriers are so energetic and determined that they have been able to hunt prey until the prey has simply collapsed from exhaustion. The first Harriers were bred in England in 1260. Sir Elias de Midhope established the first Harrier pack. Harriers are rare in the U.S. but popular in England.
